Mayor Matthew J. Driscoll announced Sept. 23 that he supports Stephanie Miner to be Syracuse's next Mayor. Driscoll made the endorsement announcement at a 10:30 a.m. news conference at the City Hall Commons Sustainability Showcase.
Driscoll cited Miner's abilities, her intelligence and her plans for Syracuse as reasons for endorsing her.
"My endorsement of Stephanie Miner for the next Mayor of the City of Syracuse is based on two main issues that we both are passionate about: accountability and innovation. These issues are key to the City's success as we face the next 5 years," Driscoll said. "Accountability must be the foundation upon which we continue to provide constituent city services with ever-shrinking budgets; and environmental technologies are the evolving 'industries' upon which our region must continue to be the leader in attracting 'green collar jobs.' I believe only one candidate has the municipal experience, proven ability, intelligence and articulated plan to accomplish these goals on behalf of all the residents of our community--and that is Stephanie Miner."
Miner said she is honored to have the Mayor's support and thanked him for his service to the Syracuse community.
"We share a commitment to Democratic values -- equality, opportunity and justice," Miner said. "And we share a commitment to looking forward and fostering innovation that will make Syracuse the best 21st Century city it can be."
