Village Trustees Mark Wilder and Carrie Weaver have spearheaded an effort to restrict trash collection to two days a week in the village.
After receiving complaints that trash trucks are on village roads every day of the week, they began investigating solutions to the problem. By requiring trash haulers to collect two days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) rather than five, the traffic is restricted to those days and, ideally, residents' trashcans will only be on the street those days. In addition, trash collection by contractors won't interfere with the department of public work's brush pickup, which occurs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Village officials are seeking public input regarding the proposed solution.
