Oneida Savings Generously Responds to Habitat's Need for Funds Habitat for Humanity's Chittenango Build coordinator Dennis Doerr recently announced the receipt of a $5,000 gift from the Oneida Savings Bank. According to Doerr, the home's foundation was complete, thanks to the efforts of many volunteers and several fundraising events, but the project would have stalled without funds to purchase materials for framing. The bank responded to the Habitat build team's appeal with a very timely donation.
"This outstanding gesture of dedication to the community will allow us to proceed with the home construction," Doerr said, "Our thanks go out to everyone at Oneida Savings for their encouragement and support."
The current Madison County HFH project is underway at 606 Dyke Road in the village of Chittenango. The purchase of the lot and the foundation materials depleted most of the available funds. Doerr asked the project's leadership to assist in fundraising efforts and appealed to the community for help. The Chittenango Rotary responded quickly with a $3,000 check, and this was soon followed by the Oneida Savings Bank. A number of individual donors have also come forward. The recent gifts allow the project to continue into its next phase which is framing.
