After watching local government take unexpected turns, Stan Roe of East Lake Road, Hamilton, has announced that he is running for Madison Town Council. Roe is a Democrat running for that party and is also on a second line as a candidate for the Unity Party.
He said he wants to run for town council because the town has not kept residents thoroughly informed about changing office terms and other issues.
"You can change that on Election Day," Roe said about unexpected decisions in town government.
Roe said he is running on a slate with others who bring a world of useful management and public service experiences to the table. He graduated from Madison and later enlisted as a private.
"After many adventures, I retired as an infantry lieutenant colonel with a master's degree in systems management," Roe said. "Coming home, I was assistant to the president of Morrisville College before joining my wife's real estate business."
Roe and his wife Sylvia are now retired. He has served on town and regional planning boards, on housing boards, Cooperative Extension and community chest boards.
More recently he has been part of the non-partisan Committee for Responsible Government focused on improving county government. Roe is still a volunteer driver for the Office for the Aging.
"I will appreciate your vote on Election Day," Roe said."
