Lysander Parks and Recreation Registration underway

Horseback riding lessons

Interested in learning to ride a horse? Then this class is for you. Participants will need hard sole shoes with a heel and be at least 7 years old. This is a begginer class and each session will provide the same lessons. Session one will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays Oct. 6 to 27. There is a maximum of six per session and sessions are fill fast. Adults are welcome.

Beginner karate and Tai Chi

Beginner Karate is an introduction to martial arts designed to teach the basics of self-defense to the beginner student. It allows the student to learn from the ground up as it builds confidence and self-esteem. Session one will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 22 at Palmer Elementary School.

Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art practiced for its health benefits, dealing with tension and stress. This creates a healthful and rewarding treat to daily living. Session one will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 22 at Palmer Elementary School.

Advanced karate

Advanced Karate is for the more advance karate students. Students should have a yellow belt with a green tip or higher. Session one will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 22 at Palmer Elementary School.

Red Cross babysitting classes

The Town of Lysander Parks and Recreation Department will offer babysitting classes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 19 at Baker High School in the help lab. Students are asked to bring a lunch and something to write with to the class and all students must be 11 years old before the program starts. Pre-registration is a must or until full.
