By proclamation of the President and Mayor Saraceni, the week of Sept. 17 to 23 is being observed as Constitution Week.
The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, remind citizens that the freedom of religion, press, speech and the rights to petition and assembly, which are enjoyed by Americans, are guaranteed by The Constitution.
Americans need only glance at today's headlines to find reasons to celebrate our Constitution. In almost every part of the world, the oppressed are valiantly struggling for the basic rights that Americans were granted 222 years ago this week. All must maintain constant vigilance to protect these freedoms for once they are lost, they can never be returned. DAR recommends teaching youth the virtues of and a dedication to the preservation of American heritage, such as faith in God, courage, honesty, high moral standards and a respect for other people.
Know and respect your Constitution. Observe Constitution Week. Fly your flag.
