B'ville boys volleyball off to hot start

After a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-20) victory over Section III rival Central Square this past Thursday, the Baldwinsville boys volleyball team has taken its spot as one of the best teams in CNY this year.

The Bees, who went undefeated against Section III opponents at the B'ville Preseason tournament two weeks ago, is now 1-0 in regular-season play.

"It was a great way to start off the season," said Jarret Reaume, a junior middle blocker for Baldwinsville, "but there is still work to be done."

Individual leaders for the Bees were Jarret Reaume with six kills and four blocks, Dan Dubiel with four kills and three aces, Kevin Saintey with five kills and one ace, and Pete Cuppernull with three kills, 16 assists, two blocks, and two aces.

"We played pretty well, but our performance did not demonstrate our full potential," said Kevin Saintey, a senior outside hitter for the Bees, "As long as we clean up our errors, we will have a great season."

Baldwinsville will continue its season with three matches this week - at Central Square on Tuesday, then back home against North Rose-Wolcott on Thursday and Horseheads on Friday.
