The eighth anniversary of 9/11 will be observed in the town of DeWitt with a memorial ceremony to begin at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow at the town hall on Butternut Drive in East Syracuse.
The DeWitt, East Syracuse and Jamesville fire departments will participate as well as the DeWitt and East Syracuse police departments.
The memorial was constructed by a group of community members in the months following the attack on the United States and includes a steel column that was part of the twin towers. People visit the memorial throughout the year with some leaving personal messages or items in remembrance of their connection to the tragic event.
Volunteers from the Sunshine Garden Club are assisting in the grounds maintenance for the memorial.
