Firefighter and Labor Day committee member Jim Buff announced the runners as they ran up Jordan Street, urging parade-goers to clap and cheer them on.
Despite changes to this year's events, beginning with changing the activities from Sunday and Monday to Saturday and Sunday, Buff said everything that had been included in the past was still held, just a weekday earlier.
"A lot of the changes are changes that you and others have suggested," he said to the crowd.
The parade, an hour-long event, included fire departments, color guards and firemen's bands from Skaneateles, Mottville, Marcellus, Fairmount, Owasco, Amber, Manlius, Fleming, Spafford, Cazenovia, Borodino, West Niles, Sempronius, Moravia, Throop, Locke and Navarino.
Following the procession, the crowd swiftly returned to Austin Park for rides, games, food and fun until the fireworks display shortly after 10 p.m.
