A Harvest celebration

The Annual Golden Harvest Festival returns this weekend at Beaver Lake Nature Center.

The seasonal celebration, held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday Sept. 12 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday Sept. 13, promises to have something for everyone. Activities include hands-on nature activities, horse-drawn hayrides, free canoeing, homemade doughnuts, live animal demonstrations, nature hikes, games, artisan and craft shopping and a unique lineup of live music and entertainment.

"Beaver Lake Nature Center and all of our Onondaga County Parks provide ongoing family entertainment and programming of the highest quality," said County Executive Joanie Mahoney. "The Golden Harvest Festival is one of the most popular of these events and I a.m. pleased to announce it will be happening again this year. Please come and join in the fun and enjoy the season with family and friends."

Highlighting the entertainment schedule are local favorites Los Blancos, The Magic of Virgil and The Westcott Jugsuckers. The schedule also includes the rock, blues and folk music of Les Sampou and the hot Zydeco dance band, Li'l Anne and the Hot Cayennes.

Admission to Golden Harvest Festival is $5 for adults, $1 for children (6 to 17 years old) and 5 and under are free. Beaver Lake Nature Center, an Onondaga County Park, is located off of Route 370, four miles west of Baldwinsville. Parking is free.
