Congressman Dan Maffei endorsed designated Democratic candidate Stephanie Miner in the Democratic primary for mayor of Syracuse. Maffei made the announcement at a press conference today outside of Nottingham High School.
Maffei cited Miner's record, her decision-making ability, her commitment to bringing positive change to Syracuse and her instrumental involvement in Say Yes to Education as reasons for supporting her.
"Stephanie Miner is someone who can think outside the box and is willing to take risks. She won't shirk from the tough decisions during this crucial time for Syracuse. And her record proves that," Maffei said. "I know firsthand Stephanie Miner is a tough, but fair individual. That is a good thing and she is the kind of mayor we need."
Miner said she was honored to have Congressman Maffei's support and expressed interest in working collaboratively with him and other local leaders if elected mayor.
"It is a great affirmation to have a partner on the federal level standing by my side who will look forward with me," Miner said. "Who will say we are going to innovate, to invest in new ideas before we allow anyone to fall through the cracks, who will say that the same answers to the same problems are the same as no answers at all."
