B'ville Man Injured in Motorcyle Accident

A Baldwinsville man was hospitalized after crashing into a delivery vehicle at 11:45 a.m. today in Van Buren.

Sheriff's Deputy Joseph Salvagni responded to the 2200 block of Downer Street to investigate a car/motorcyle accident. Deputies report that Robert Macina, 57, of 6564 Canton St. sustained multiple injuries after being ejected from his 2002 Yamaha motorcycle.

Witnesses told deputies that Macina was traveling east on Downer Street when he struck the back of 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, operated by Leola Durkee, 44, of 320 North Midler Avenue. Durkee's delivery vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lane and waiting to make a left hand turn when Macina crashed into her. Rescue crews from the Baldwinsville Fire Department responded to the scene, temporarily shutting down the road, and Macina was transported to University Hospital by the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance.

Durkee was not injured and no tickets are expected to be issued at this time.
