Heritage Farm thanks Community Chest

The Canastota Community Chest Inc., board of directors has kicked off the 2009-10 campaign and has many thanks to those that have already donated or plan to donate. Past beneficiaries have sent testimonials to the Madison County Eagle with their response from working with the Canastota Community Chest.

In one of the letters, the Heritage Farm Inc., thanked the Community Chest for awarding a grant to their agency from their collected funds during the 2008-2009 campaign. This year the agency is hoping to benefit once again in order to further their work with people with developmental disabilities in a rural, family-farm setting.

The community organization operates a variety of programs including respite, structured day activities, services at participants' homes, employment services and individual-based Service Coordination. A number of program participants are enrolled in more than one program.

"The generosity of the Madison County Community and organizations such as the Canastota Community Chest certainly add to the enrichment of the loves of the people that we serve here at the farm," said Jim Simmons, executive director of Heritage Farm, Inc.
