Syracuse Teachers Association Endorses Miner for Mayor

Calling her "the best choice for the future of our schools and the future of our city's children," President Anne Marie Voutsinas announced the STA's endorsement of Stephanie Miner for Mayor of Syracuse.

"We support Stephanie because we know that she will be a Mayor who makes education a top priority 365 days a year," Voutsinas said. "She understands how important education is to our city's future. We endorse Stephanie because we know her record and we know her plans."

Miner discussed some of the education priorities she shares with the STA, including fully funding and implementing the Say Yes to Education program and expanding full-day Pre-K.

"We can and will change the face of public education here in Syracuse," Miner said. "We can improve our graduation rates. We can close the achievement gap. But teachers cannot do it alone and one Mayor cannot do it alone. Providing Syracuse's children with the opportunities they need and deserve will take innovative thinking, strong leadership and partnerships."

STA represents more than 3,000 Syracuse City School District employees, including teachers, counselors, social workers, food service workers, teaching assistants and nurses.
