On Oct. 29, the book and movie will be "The Talented Mr. Ripley," the novel by Patricia Highsmith and 1999 film starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow. Set and filmed in the Italian Riviera, Venice and Rome, this psychological thriller follows the path of Tom Ripley, a poor young man of dubious ethics who is hired to travel to Italy and persuade a wealthy playboy to return to the States and the family business.

Club members have the opportunity to discuss the book and the movie at a dinner in the Colgate Bookstore immediately following the film screening.

The book and movie club offers two subscription plans. Full members will receive their own copy of all three books for the season, free admission to the screening of all three films and dinner during the three after-movie discussions, for a one-time fee of $48/season. Basic members receive free admission to the film screenings, and dinner during the after-movie discussion, for a one-time fee of $24 for the whole season.
