WG names students of the month

The following students have been named Students of the Month for the month of September:

Chelsey Lavere is the daughter of Tom and Ann Lavere, both graduates of West Genesee High School. Chelsey has a brother, Thomas, who attends West Genesee Middle School.

Academically, Chelsey has demonstrated her knowledge and dedication in a rigorous study program. She has taken Advanced Placement college courses in math, science, history and language. She will receive a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors upon graduation. Chelsey has always been motivated in all areas of study as evident by her middle and high school high honor roll status.

Chelsey has been involved in extracurricular activities both in and out of school. She has spent four years involved in student government, three years as a council member and this year as it's publicity director. Chelsey has been on the board of the Student Ambassador Program since it's inception. She has also enjoyed Model UN since her freshman year, winning Outstanding Delegate. Her passions in her free time include dance and community volunteer work.

Chelsey plans to attend a four-year university to major in biology with a minor in Spanish.

Michael Pizzari is the son of Greg and Karyl Pizzari. He has a younger sister, Nicole, who is currently a junior at West Genesee High School.

Michael sees the value of striving for excellence in all he does while challenging himself in and out of school. He has taken advanced courses in many subject areas and is currently enrolled in Advanced Placement calculus and physics. Michael was awarded the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information TEchnology during his junion year because of his passion for math and science. His hard work has earned him high honor roll recognition in all marking periods and current class placement among the top 10 students. Michael is also a member of the National Honor Society and was a Supreme Court Justice at the 2009 Boy's State at SUNY Morrisville.
