Heritage peonies now on sale

More than two miles of peony plants grew along the hillside on the north side of the Seneca River as part of Indian Spring Farms' commercial nursery. During the 1920s, the fields extended from Dexter Parkway to the approximate site of today's Route 690 bridge. Peony plants descended from many of those seen in this vintage photo are available for sale this week at The Museum at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse, where the farm's history and product are preserved and propagated.
