An "Autumn Harvest Mexican" cooking class with Sami Martinez's creative cooking will strike up the appetite with an autumn color palette and locally produced vegetables. The menu will consist of chicken and butternut squash enchiladas, borracho beans with kale ribbons, fiesta rice with diced rainbow vegetables and pico do gallo salsa.

"Having hands-on instruction makes the recipes and techniques of preparation easier to remember and repeat," said Sami Martinez, who learned how to cook Mexican foods from her husband's grandmother many years ago. Each participant will enjoy a delicious meal following the cooking class and receive full instructional recipes for each dish. Join the group for this culinary and cultural experience from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Palace Theater, Hamilton.

A Chinese Brush Painting workshop led by Rome artist, Jane Taylor, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Colgate Bookstore Community Room.
