Lions Field gets pre-raffle spruce up

Fathers of Marcellus girls lacrosse team members, Martisco Lions Club members, spouses and team players met early one recent Saturday morning at the Lions Field to work on parking improvements.

Marcellus girls lacrosse uses and maintains the field for practice and games, while the Lions Club uses the pavilion for meetings. Parking was becoming a problem. Lacrosse fathers and some Lions Club members started clearing a hedgerow to expand the parking lot while other club members picked up trash along two miles of Route 174 and then arranged needed equipment for the upcoming annual Ham and Turkey Raffle.

Among those who helped at Lions Field were, from left, Martha Bower, Doug Taylor, Bruce Laubacher, Dave Lacastro, Peg Bouck, John Conklin, Dave Peatfield, Pat Reid, Chairman, Club President Hans Nichols, Carol Reagan-Nichols, Dan Bouck, Kendra Wilson, Kelly and Emily Hennigan. Not pictured but present all day were Tom Sawyer, chain saw operator and Dick Lundblad, truck driver.
