Derrick Taylor, a senior at Baldwinsville High School, has been selected as a delegate to the International Model United Nations to be held in The Hague, Netherlands, in January.
Taylor was chosen to be one of the US delegates following an extensive interview process this past spring. He is the first student from Baldwinsville to receive this honor. As a delegate, Taylor will meet with advisers in Rochester for several months prior to his departure to study anticipated issues and procedures.
Taylor will have the opportunity to meet and work with other student delegates from around the world. Following their conference, the delegates will propose formal resolutions for consideration at the United Nations, headquartered in New York City. In years past, several draft resolutions from the conference have been adopted and enacted.
Taylor completed a summer student abroad program this past summer in Germany, through the Rotary Club. He is interested in attending college to pursue a degree in German and international relations.
