For thousands of years, human beings have used poetry to talk about God.
Jesuit novice Tim O'Brien will present how poetry can serve and support our relationship with God. He will look at similarities between writing and the spiritual life -- patience, attentiveness, awareness and gratitude, to name a few. O'Brien will also talk about how we can use writing (both poetry and prose) as a way to express our own relationship with the Lord. Selections from various poets will be read.
Everyone is welcome -- no background in poetry or writing is necessary. Poetry and Prayer will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 17 and will be repeated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday Nov. 19. A donation of $5, or what ever you can afford, is suggested. To register, contact St. Augustine's at 638-0585, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
