The most artistically creative students at the Canastota Central School District will now have more scholarship options. The school has a new chapter of the National Art Honor Society for sophomores, juniors and seniors who have a B average minimum and show an outstanding ability in art. The honor society is established through the National Art Education Association. The NAEA includes 33,000 art students.
"We have a lot of involved art students," said Kristen Boisen, art teacher and advisor. "We have about 50 art club members. I'm hoping half become honor society students."
There a currently nine members. The chapter selected officers who received certificates and pins.
The first major project for the students is to give the faculty room a complete makeover, which includes repainting and rearranging the furniture.
