Nicol Baker, supervisor of the town of Vienna and Vienna Councilman Rick Leos addressed the mayor and trustees concerning a report on Channel 9 news concerning the failure of six of the 11 campgrounds in the township to meet state and federal requirements in relation to flooding. They incorrectly reported earlier that day that the campgrounds were located in Sylvan Beach; however none of the campgrounds in Sylvan Beach are having a problem. Sylvan Beach is an incorporated village and therefore is not responsible in any way for any of the other campgrounds located within the town of Vienna. Baker said she contacted Channel 9 News immediately to correct the story.
"The thing is people don't know where the town of Vienna is, but everyone knows were Sylvan Beach is," Baker said.
The board agreed to write letters to state officials supporting the town of Vienna in its effort to help campground owners find a fair and equitable resolution to the situation.
