Notes from the village

The following notes include business from the special meeting held at 4 p.m. May 7:

Charles Murphy of Senator John DeFrancisco's office presented Mayor Heindorf with a framed commemorative document and pen that was used by Governor Paterson to sign the Senate approved bill number 7546-A. The bill number authorized the Village of North Syracuse to "discontinue use of certain lands as parklands and convert such lands for senior housing".

Engine 4 rehab/rebuild agreement:

Mayor Heindorf was authorized to sign the Engine 4 Agreement with Absolute Emergency Vehicles and Equipment for the rehab of Engine #4. At the April 9 meeting the bid was awarded to Absolute with some exceptions. It was further discussed at the April 23rd meeting. The final bid price was $75,725. The Village received another bid from Northern Fire Equipment which also was not entirely in conformance with the bid specifications. Both bids had deficiencies. The Village is awarding the contract to Absolute because Absolute was the lowest bidder and the Fire Department feels that allowing Absolute to do the work is in the best interests of the Fire Department and the Village.
