Gerst named Stonehedge principal

The West Genesee School District has selected Gary J. Gerst as the next Stonehedge Elementary School-Gold Principal. Gerst will replace Beth Lozier, who was recently named at the new Camillus Middle School principal.

Gerst is currently employed by the Skaneateles Central School District as the K-5 math/science/health curriculum coordinator and K-12 staff development coordinator.

Gerst holds a bachelor's degree in management science from SUNY Geneseo. He holds a master's degree in elementary education Pre-K through 6, and a certificate of advanced studies in educational leadership from Syracuse University.

He has also taught seventh and eighth grade Language Arts/English, and sixth grade Language Arts/Studies at Skaneateles Middle School. Prior to those positions, Gerst also taught fourth grade in the Fairport Central School District and fifth grade at the State Street School in Skaneateles.

Gerst will officially start the new position July 1, when Lozier takes her post at CMS.
