Baker High School has taken honors for this year's Vera House White Ribbon Campaign High School Challenge in the suburban category.
Teams of students from 11 area schools competed to raise money for Vera House. Baker High School's campaign, which was lead by the school's National Honor Society, raised $5,008. Thomas Magnarelli, advisor to the honor society, said students sold white ribbons and bracelets, and took pledges from people who donated money they would have spent on various luxuries for a month such as manicures, coffee and haircuts.
Over the last 10 years, Baker's National Honor Society has raised more than $30,000 for Vera House, Magnarelli said.
