Marcellus man killed in mobile home collapse

Lyle W. Isbell, 78, was killed last night when the mobile home he was deconstructing collapsed on top of him.

For the past two weeks Paul M. Maloney, 28, and Isbell, both of Marcellus were in the process of tearing down a single-wide trailer located at 3565 S. E. Town Line Road in the town Of Marcellus.

Maloney and Isbell had removed the metal from the east side of the trailer compromising the structural integrity of the trailer.

At approximately 7:28 p.m. Thursday May 7, Maloney and Isbell were inside of the trailer and actively removing metal from the southern wall of the trailer, when the northern end of the trailer started to collapse. The trailer collapsed on top of both subjects. Maloney was able to escape from under the collapsed structure sustaining minor injury.

Isbell was unable to escape the collapse sustaining fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased by MAVES Ambulance.

The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Onondaga Sherif's department, MAVES Ambulance, Marcellus Fire Department, and the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office.
