Jesus Christ Superstar' stars B'ville resident

Salt City Center for the Performing Arts presents its 30th Anniversary production of Jesus Christ Superstar on Friday and Saturday April 10 and 11 on the Crouse Hinds Concert Theatre's stage at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center at Oncenter, 421 Montgomery St. in Syracuse.

Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar is directed by Bob Brown of Baldwinsville with musical direction by Pat Lotito and choreography by Jodi Bova Mele. The production promises to embody Mr. Lotito's traditional Lenten presentation that has been revered by Salt City Center's audiences for decades along with Brown's promise of a fresh retelling of the story of the final days of Jesus and his followers.

The large and talented cast includes Brown, who returns to the role of Jesus, a role he originated and has been identified with in Syracuse for more than three decades. Audience favorite Robert (Tank) Steingraber stars in the role of the glitzy, gaudy and tantalizing King Herod, a role he has performed in for 28 years consecutively. Frank Fiumano, who brought a stately and tortured presence to the role of Pontius Pilate for 15 years, will share the role with Bill Molesky, who in more recent years has brought his own powerful portrayal of Pilate to the role.

Many well known performers return to their former roles including Henry Wilson as Judas who will share the role with Josh Mele, Becky Bottrill as Mary Magdelene who will share the role with Cathleen O'Brien, Rob Searle and Dennis Brogan as Caiaphas, Mark Kotzin and David Walker as Annas, and Mary Siracuse as Mother Mary who will share the role with Marcia Mele.

The large ensemble includes new talent as well as individuals and their families who have performed in "Superstar" for generations. Tickets are $30 for orchestra seating, $25 for mezzanine and $20 for the balcony. Tickets may be purchased at ticketmaster.com; by calling the Oncenter Box Office at 435.2121 or by visiting the box office, which is located on the State Street side of the War Memorial building.

Baldwinsville residents (from left, row one) David Hoy, Bob Brown as Jesus, Emilie Hoy (from left, row two) Kirsten Fedorko, Kate Hoy, Alec Hoffman, Macey Stockwell and Judy Fedorko will perform in Salt City Center's production of Jesus Christ Superstar.
