Steel work to necessitate closures on Buckley Road bridge

The New York State Thruway Authority announced that steel work at the Buckley Road Bridge, which crosses over the Thruway at milepost 283.04 located between Interchanges 36 Watertown, Binghamton, I-81) and 37 (Syracuse, Liverpool, Electronics Parkway), will necessitate several traffic stoppages in both the eastbound and westbound directions, beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday March 30 until 3 a.m. on Tuesday March 31, weather permitting.

Beginning at 7 p.m., maintenance crews will utilize several rolling road stoppages to slow traffic in both eastbound lanes while steel is raised. Similar stoppages will then take place in both westbound lanes as the evening progresses. A minimum of four stoppages will occur in each direction.

Motorists are advised that moderate delays may occur during each stoppage. Moderate delays mean that motorists' travel times could be delayed five to 20 minutes longer than the normal time.

Dynamic Message Signs will be in place to inform motorists of the stoppages and any delays that may result.
