B'ville: Board documents to be available online

The Baldwinsville Central School District will soon be using the Internet to launch a new eGovernance initiative called BoardDocs. This web-based initiative will enhance the district's governance and will provide a basis for better communication with the public.

Electronic distribution of documents will replace the old method of compiling, printing, binding and distributing a limited number of paper meeting documents. Electronic distribution will not only save time and resources, it will also provide unprecedented public access to information that Board of Education members use to make decisions.

Through the BCSD Web site, the public can view Board of Education meeting agendas and the supporting documents associated with the meetings. This will allow interested parties to review and print the information prior to a meeting. After the meeting, the individuals can review the agenda items and see what action was taken by the board.

All documents associated with the meeting are automatically archived and can be accessed by meeting date or by using the comprehensive search feature. Beginning with the March 30 Board of Education meeting, the BCSD will begin using BoardDocs. BoardDocs was developed in partnership with kindergarten through 12th administration and board members to ease the process of assembly and distribution of board packets and supporting documents to board members.

In addition to meeting agendas, the BCSD will also soon be using the same technology to publish the policies and procedures of the district online. Currently, paper versions of the manuals are distributed and maintained at the school buildings. By publishing the policies and procedures online, the district will assure that personnel and the public will have access to the most up-to-date information. Online distribution will reduce the time and expense of distributing policies and procedures. You can access the new eGovernance features via the district's Web site at bville.org.
