B'ville: Ending domestic violence

"I think our work has had a tremendous impact here at Baker and in the Baldwinsville community," Magnarelli said. "I am extremely fortunate to have the National Honor Society members involved in this effort. This is a highly motivated group of young people who have answered my challenges to them each year with increased success."

Magnarelli, a Syracuse resident, has been a history and social studies teacher in Baldwinsville for 34 years. He is also a self-proclaimed "news junkie."

"{Q}One can't ignore the problem of domestic violence when it comes at you so often through the news and the media. We can do something about it through organizations like Vera House{Q}," Magnarelli said. "By involving the students at Baker High School, I help to convey the campaign's core message: ending violence is a community-wide effort."

The mission of Vera House is to end all domestic and sexual violence, to assist families in crisis, to support those affected by domestic and sexual violence to live safe, self-sufficient lives, to empower women and children and to promote a culture of equality and respect in all relationships.
