Upon arrival, Chief Randy Pilot reported flames at the rear of the building with heavy smoke showing and requested a Signal 99 response, which is the code firefighters use for a fully involved structure fire, for mutual aid departments.
First to arrive were Ladder 33, who entered the building to begin an attack on the fire, and Marcellus Ambulance and Medic Car. Following them in was Engine 2 and later Heavy Rescue 1.
Mutual Aid Departments included:
Onondaga Hill on standby at Marcellus Fire Department

There were no injuries to either residents or fire personnel. The residents were not home at the time of the fire.
Damages to the structure include fire damage to the rear outside stairwell and the kitchen/living area inside the second floor. There was also water and smoke damage to the downstairs garage.
No other houses were affected by the fire. The main fire was knocked down within an hour and fire crews remained on scene to check for any hidden "hot-spots."
