Auburn native sews her heart out on Mandana

Many of the colors of fabric Long works with are earth tones, softer colors that have a calming effect on the person wearing the clothes. She hopes to begin hand-dying her fabrics, and even then believes she will stick with softer colors.

Like her fabrics, Long has painted the interior of her studio a soft white, and has several large windows to allow natural sunlight in.

"I'm so excited about this space," she said.

Through it all, Long has not only found sewing to be a freeing experience, but it has also brought her closer with her business as a chiropractor.

"Clothing can be a healing garment," she said, adding that she wants to intertwine her work as a seamstress with her work as a healer to provide comfort for her patients.
