Lakeland parish re-opens doors after 2007 fire

On Jan. 8, 2007, Holy Cross National Catholic Church, located at 3690 Armstrong Road in Lakeland, experienced a fire which damaged the interior of the parish.

The parish was saved through the efforts of the Lakeland and Camillus fire departments. Over the last two and a half years, parishioners reparied the structure and continued to grow, adding a new parish reception hall.

The grand opening of the hall was celebrated with a Mass of Dedication at 4 p.m. Sunday June 21 with Prime Bishop Most Rev. Robert M. Nemkovich, Diocesan Bishop Right Rev. Anthony Mikovsky, both from Scranton, Penn., Mohawk Valley Senior, Very Rev. Walter Madej from New York Mills, dedicated parishioners and supporters.

Following the mass, the first reception in the new hall was held.
