Boards in brief: Van Buren, Lysander, B'ville

Van Buren officials approved a local law banning parking along Sun Meadows Way from Downer Street to the 84 Lumber parking exit.

The request for the ban came after the town codes officer had submitted several complaints regarding large vehicles (tractor-trailers) and passenger vehicles parking along Sun Meadows Way to access area businesses. The parked vehicles made it difficult for travelers to navigate the roadway, especially those exiting 84 Lumber. Van Buren Highway Superintendent Ed Parks also said it created a stress on the road causing the black top to crumble at the road's edge.

Property deemed unsafe

The village codes officer received a memo that the property at 3 to 9 West Genesee St., which was damaged in August of 2007 by a fire, was deemed unsafe. The village board approved an inspection of the property by the codes officer and an independent structural engineer.

Speed reduction in Lysander

Lysander officials have submitted a traffic study speed evaluation request to the New York State Department of Transportation regarding lowering the speed limit on Kibby Road from 55 mph to 40 mph. The request came from Terry Hackett of Kibby Road, who cited concerns about speeding along the roadway after a recent accident on the street.

Public hearing

A public hearing regarding the addition of six streetlights in the Clare Park subdivision in Radisson will be held at 7 p.m. July 13 at the Lysander Town Hall, 8220 Loop Road in Radisson. National Grid submitted a proposal to add six high pressure fixtures in the subdivision.
