Baldwinsville sent four top track and field athletes - Brian Kane, Cathleen Green, Shaun Thompson and Sean Bernstein - east on Route 31 to Cicero-North Syracuse's Bragman Stadium for the annual state championship meet.
Kane, a junior, would pull off the highest individual finish in the high jump. He cleared 6 feet 4 inches and tied for fifth place, not far from Eric Fontanez (Hilton), who won by clearing 6 feet 8 inches.
Green, a senior, completed her high-school career by taking eighth place in the Division I (large school) long jump, going 17 feet 4 1/4 inches. Jennifer Clayton (Suffern) won with a leap of 20 feet 6 1/4 inches.
As for Bernstein, the senior ran in the 200-meter dash, taking 10th in a time of 22.37 seconds during qualifying heats and missing the finals by just two-tenths of a second.
Finally, Thompson ran in Saturday's 3,000-meter steeplechase, and the sophomore finished ninth among Division I runners (14th overall) with a time of 9:50.33. Michael Kiley (Chaminade) won in 9:13.92.
