Under the sponsorship of the Camillus-Knifetown American Legion Post 1540, seven West Genesee High School junior class members will attend the 2009 Boy's State session held at SUNY Morrisville in June. They will be among 1,500 high school juniors that will participate in this year's program.
The students attending are Connor Abdo, Alexander Arbital, Timothy Clark, Vincent Lustrinelli, Michael Pizzari, Bradley Shepard and Heitham Wady.
"This is a Leadership Action Program in which qualified juniors take part in a practical government course designed to develop a working knowledge of the structure of government. They were selected from among students who exhibited qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service to their school," Program Chairman Steve Poli said.
Community sponsors of the Legion program include village Rotary, P.B.A., Chamber of Commerce and Valley Men's Club.
The American Legion Post invites all qualified veterans to join and become active in the many community activities it sponsors. The Knifetown Post meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the village Elks Lodge at 7 p.m.
