Madison County Sheriff Ronald I, Cary reports that deputies assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit have charged two county men with unrelated rape-related charges during the past 10 days.
On May 22 investigators charged Robert C. Prahl, 43, of 1577 Cortland St., DeRuyter with one count each of first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act, both Class B felonies and a class A misdemeanor crime of unlawfully dealing with a child.
Police say Prahl provided alcoholic beverages to an 18 year old female in the village of DeRuyter and engaged in sexual acts with the victim while she was in an unresponsive and intoxicated state.
He was arrested on the strength of a warrant and arraigned in the town of DeRuyter Court. Prahl was committed to the Madison County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond pending his re-appearance in court at a later date.
In a separate reported sexual abuse investigation in the town of Sullivan, investigators have charged Michael J. Domres Jr., 28, of Edgewood Trailer Park, 401 Peck Road, Kirkville with one count of second-degree rape, a class D felony.
It is alleged that Domres engaged in sexual acts with a 15 year old female in the town of Sullivan. He was arraigned before the town of Sullivan Court on June 2 and committed to the Madison County Public Safety Building Correctional Facility with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond bail.
Domres was released overnight on bail and subsequently re-arrested again today on a charge of violation of state parole. Domres is again in the county jail, this time without bail.
