Tomorrow Sunday July 26, Jagermeister-sponsored, Fritz's Polka Band of Verona, will perform once again at Harborfest in Oswego. FPB performed will perform at noon on the Fort Ontario Stage.
"It's great to perform again at Harborfest, as it's such a big festival," said Fritz Scherz, band leader of Fritz's Polka Band. "We have always had a great time performing there, and are looking forward to taking part again in this great family-oriented event!"
Fritz's Polka Band has been performing for over 30 years, and made history in 1999, when they became the first polka band to perform at a Woodstock Festival in Rome. On Sept. 15, 2007, FPB made history again by becoming the first polka band to perform at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. FPB has made 16 recordings. FPB even appears on "The Manchurian Candidate" DVD which was released in July 2004. FPB previously won a Just Plain Folks Music Award in the Best Polka Song category for "Bialczak 's Polka" on Nov. 4, 2006.
In November 2008, FPB won an Upper State Independent Award in Syracuse in the International Category. Just last month, Fritz's Polka Band won their first ever Syracuse Area Music Award in the Best Recording: Other Styles category.
