One-car crash claims life of Manlius woman

A rollover crash on Pompey Center Road claimed the life of a Manlius woman.

Around 11:30 p.m. July 22, Leslie Young, 45, of 8376 State Route 20, was heading north, driving a 2004 Ford Excursion, when she drove off the left side of the road. Witnesses say the Excursion, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck a large rock and tree before becoming airborn and severing a utility pole. The SUV rolled at least two times before coming to a rest on its side. Young was ejected from the vehicle.

Rescue crews from the Delphi Falls Fire Department raced to the scene, where Young was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Sheriff's deputies say no other vehicles were involved in the crash and indicate speed may have been a factor. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine if alcohol also contributed to the crash.
