Lysander windmill legislation approved

Lysander officials have approved windmill legislation for the town. After receiving the Syracuse-Onondaga County Planning Agency's report, which stated the legislation would have no significant or adverse impact on the town or county, board members voted unanimously for the legislation (counselors Ed Reed, who wrote the legislation, and Jack Krisanda were not present).

The approved legislation included a few revisions, including a requirement that the height of any freestanding, ground-based structure be equal to or greater to the distance the structure is located from neighboring property lines. Windmill owners must also minimize the visual impact of the structure on residents.
