B'ville Community Band travels to Lake George

Bring a chair, bring a friend, bring an ear

The Baldwinsville Community Band will travel to Lake George in the foothills of the Adirondacks to participate in the Lake George Community Band Festival.

They will join 10 other community concert bands from New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Canada at the all-day event. The festival will kick-off Friday July 17 in the village of Lake George with ensembles performing lakeside in the Shepard Park Amphitheater. The festival will provide an enjoyable time for all who love music and all who love to perform music.

Community bands are a part of America's rich musical heritage. They provide their communities with musical programs throughout the summer and holiday seasons by preserving the tradition of the American concert band and American marching and concert band music. They also provide local musicians an opportunity to play their instruments in a setting of camaraderie and community.

To celebrate this, the Lake George Community Band is proud to host its fifth annual Community Band Festival July 17 in the lovely village of Lake George. An air reminiscent to "turn-of-the-century" concerts in the park will prevail as each concert band performs its own 60-minute program beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday July 18. The highlight of the event will be a "combined community band" performance at 3 p.m. featuring members from each band.

Rain location will be at the Lake George High School Auditorium.
