Taxi driver shot, crashes vehicle

Syracuse Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Summit Avenue at 4:08 a.m. this morning, Friday, Jan. 30. Police originally responded to what appeared to be a serious vehicle accident.

When they arrived they discovered a 2001 Chevy Impala Yellow Taxi Co. taxi cab lying on its right side and damage to several parked cars in a shared driveway on the 200 block of Summit that the taxi cab apparently crashed into before rolling over.

Once Gordon arrived at University Hospital it was determined that the victim had been shot in the head. Gordon is currently in critical condition.

According to neighbors, police were canvassing the neighborhood just before 5 a.m.

One neighborhood resident said, "I heard a noise like a snowplow blade hitting the pavement - but I knew it wasn't snowing."

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 442-5222.
