The second annual Rockathon will be held on Saturday Feb. 7 at the Morrisville Elementary School gymnasium and cafeteria This will be a fun event that will bring 4-Hers together and help beat the winter blahs and raise money to help support the 4-H program in Madison County. The 4-H youth development program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County offers a variety of program opportunities which build life skills for hundreds of young people in the County.
4-H 'ers will bring sponsorships with them and rock in rocking chairs to support the Madison County 4-H Foundation which helps to enhance the county program by offering scholarships for trips and college. The Foundation also makes awards and recognition events possible and sponsors many other 4-H educational opportunities in the county. The rock-a-thon will start at 9:30 a.m. with registration. Rocking will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
A pizza lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.. The event will conclude with awards and prizes at 4:30 p.m. During the five hours of rocking, breaks will be provided as well as ongoing activities and fun. A talent show will be one of the many fun activities that the rockers have an opportunity to participate in. We will also learn about line dancing and play a quiz game. It is a fun day which is planned and led by 4-H youth.
