BOE votes 7-0 to close Sylvan-Verona Beach

With relatively little fanfare, the Oneida Board of Education voted unanimously to close Sylvan-Verona Beach Elementary School Monday night.

Two SVB parents spoke in opposition of the closure and after a brief statement from Superintendent Ronald Spadafora citing reasons such as rapidly declining enrollment and cuts in state funding, the board voted on the closure.

All the board members voted in favor of the closure and moved on to the next agenda item.
