Community Bikes, a not-for-profit community project that provides bicycles, accessories and training to families in our community that can put them to good use, is seeking donations of bicycles and funding.
"We're delighted to report that the project has already received more than 80 bicycles since launching in August", said volunteer Chuck Fox. "Nearly half have been placed with area families. Now, we hope to solicit and re-condition a large number of bikes to be placed with families in our community when the weather gets better this spring."
Working in Partnership with the Community Action Partnership for Madison County and with other human service agencies in Madison and northern Chenango counties, Community Bikes benefits families that would otherwise not have access to a bike. By matching community resources with community needs, Community Bikes generates important health, environmental and economic benefits for the families and for the community.
Community Bikes is partnering with Adventure Bikes and Boards, as well as with area school groups and with Colgate campus groups to assist with re-conditioning of bikes as well as with solicitation of bicycles and funds.
