Man succumbs to injuries

An 81-year-old Lincoln man struck by a vehicle on Whitman Road Tuesday succumbed to his injuries Dec. 31.

Police say George I. Bach, 3963 Whitman Road, Lincoln, suffered the fatal injuries Dec. 30 after being struck by vehicle operated by Mallery N. Bisha, 21, of Chapman Road in Canastota. The accident occurred at about noon approximately one-tenth of a mile east of Oxbow Road.

According to police, Bach was operating a John Deere tractor with a snow blower attachment at the end of his driveway when he entered the roadway into the path of Bisha's westbound vehicle.

Bach was ejected from the canopy surrounding the tractor and landed in the road, police say. The Bisha vehicle came to rest partially in the entrance of the Bach driveway.

Bach was treated at the scene by members of the Lincoln Fire Department and Greater Lenox Ambulance Service. He was then transported to Chittenango, where he was airlifted by a State Police medi-vac helicopter to SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Bach originally was listed in serious condition with severe head and possible neck injuries.

Three family members were passengers in the Bisha vehicle at the time of the crash. None reported any injuries.

No tickets or charges were lodged in the crash.

Police say the conditions at the time of the crash were snow and blowing snow, combined with snow and icy road conditions, which may have contributed to the crash.

The investigation continues.
