B'ville: Getting into character

Third-graders at Van Buren Elementary School recently got into character for book reports. As part of their reports, each student dressed as a character from a book he or she read, pretending to be that character while giving a two to three minute talk on the book. Teacher Susan Pinkel said the third-graders enjoy doing the book talks and, as they listened to their classmates' presentations, they became interested in other books, which encourages reading for enjoyment. Carolyn Brussel (pictured) is dressed as a character from an American Dolls book that she read.
