St. Andrew's continues with Ash Wednesday Service

Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. an Ash Wednesday service will be held outside St. Andrews Church, 124 Alden St. All are welcome to attend the service and to receive ashes.

Palms will be already burned and into ashes. Luminaries will line the walk ways and there will be a center table with candle. Music will play as people assemble.

Services will be held Sunday, March 1 and March 8 at 11 a.m. outside the church.

The Roman Catholic diocese closed St. Andrew's. Jan. 18. St. Andrews was fiscally solvent and a vibrant faith community with a priest who wanted to continue saying mass at St. Andrews.

Parishioners from St. Andrews continue to protest the Chancery decision to close churches throughout the Diocese ignoring the requests of Parish Councils.
