Celebrating world cultures

The third-grade teachers at McNamara Elementary School held a continent party Feb. 9 to expose their students to some of the cultural aspects of the countries they were studying including Japan, China and India.

The children rotated through the classrooms for various activities including sampling foods from China and India, trying origami and having henna designs painted on their hands. Throughout the year, as students study countries on different continents, McNamara's third-grade teachers give pupils a "party" to reinforce the information they've learned.
